COPE Visitor Centre, Vientiane, Laos

I spent couple of hours in cope centre and one of the museums that makes you understand the suffering of Laotian peoples. I found this FREE exhibition very interesting and important for all the visitors. Basically, cope centre is a non-profit organization in Laos which provides prosthetic limbs, mobility assistance and rehabilitation for Laos’s people who can’t afford it. Laos is still suffering the effects of the horrific bombings in the 1960's and it is the most heavily bombed country in history. Over 2 million tons of ordnance (more than 270 million bombies) was dropped on Laos between 1964 and 1973. Approximately 30% failed to detonate leaving 80 million unexploded bombies in Laos after the war. Over 50,000 people have been killed or injured by these bombs during the war and over 20,000 after the war. Wonderful work being done here to help those injured by 'bombie' blasts”. (Must visit)
