It’s almost taken me 6 – 7 hours journey from siem reap to PP and if you’re planning to take a local public bus, my suggestion would be Mekong express. On the other hand, it would be better prepare yourself for worst journey, since the roads are under construction. On the way, the bus will stop at a nearby restaurant for lunch or dinner and do not spend more than 15 minutes. Basically, Phnom Penh is a largest city of Cambodia and personally I really love Phnom Penh over Siem reap. Phnom penh is much more develop city compare to siem reap and you’re able to see more buildings and factories over there. My suggestion would be to rent a tuk-tuk and explore the city for one or two days.
